For most people the term "rubber stamp" conjures up images of the impersonal, practical device that instantly imprints such mundane, albeit purposeful, messages as PAID, RECEIVED, FRAGILE, RUSH, FIRST CLASS, RETURN TO SENDER, and the due date for one's library book. Stamps, then would seem to belong in stationery stores, post offices and business offices and the only personal stamp imaginable would be a name-and-address stamp, or one to mark the date.
